Decoration Ideas #3: Christmas Tree Tutorial

Hi beauties,
The Xmas fever is in the air and I believe you all are catching it. I have been doing a series of posts on Decoration Ideas and had promised to do a Christmas Tree Tutorial next. In case you missed the last two posts, you can check them here:

My cute Xmas tree

Without further ado, lets get to the tutorial proper.
You will need the following:
  • Cardboard sheet
  • Scissors
  • UHU glue
  • Measuring Tape
  • Ribbon (green, gold and red colours)
  • Ribbon Shredder

Step 1: Make the cardboard sheet into a cone, using the UHU glue to secure the sheet in place.

Step 2: Trim off the excess paper underneath, so that the cone can stand on its own without tilting to either side.

Step 3: Measure out 4 inches of the ribbon and cut.

Step 4:  Using the larger side of the ribbon shredder, shred the ribbon form 1/3 part of the ribbon down. Be careful not to shed all of the ribbon as the base of the ribbon is what we will stick to the paper cone.

Step 5: The shredded ribbon from Step 4 should look like the picture on the left. You can stick the ribbon that way to the cone. But I like to take it up a notch by using a scissors to curl it out a bit, using the sharp edges as shown.

The curled ribbon should look like this

Step 6:  Turn the back of the curled ribbon piece and apply UHU glue to the base of the ribbon carefully.

Step 7: Stick the ribbon piece carefully to the base of  the cardboard cone. Make sure the ribbon piece is well aligned to the base of the cone so the cone can still stand firmly afterwards.

Step 8: Repeat Step 7 and make sure the ribbon pieces are arranged uniformly round the cone.

Step 9: When you are done sticking the first batch of ribbon pieces round the base of the cone, work your way up and layer another batch carefully.

Step 10: Keep working your way up the cone until you get to the top.
You can also add red and gold ribbons as subtle highlights to the tree as Christmas trees are traditionally meant to be green in colour.
Feel free to wrap a drinking straw with green ribbons and stick to the top of the tree with the aid of a UHU glue.
Then, attach a green or red pull bow ribbon which is sold in the open market to the straw and you have your lovely Christmas Tree!

And here you have your Christmas Tree!

So that's it lovelies, do try this out and tell me how it went.
Kindly share this tutorial with your loved ones this season as well.
Till my next post,
Stay beautiful & radiant.
